GrIDS takes a step forward in their course offerings for Small Group Training by upgrading the Land Cover Classification course into Land Cover Change Analysis. While the former’s goal is only to classify different vegetation cover, the latter incorporates additional steps in performing Change Detection Analysis (CDA).
The second Small Group Training was conducted last February 2018 wherein geology instructors from Partido State University participated to better assist their students in their theses. This covered the watershed modeling process, 3D method of visualizing the results and hands-on exercise on the mapping of results.
The Photogrammetry course once again re-opened in the first quarter of 2018 as it is one of the sought after advanced courses of the company. In this training, participants were able to complete the course and learned how to use the OpenDroneMap and Wietrznia and Bellus datasets for photogrammetric processing.
GrIDS, Inc. conducted its 1st and 2nd Small Group GIS Training Course on Photogrammetry. Both events were held at GrIDS Main Office, ES Plaza, Los Baños, Laguna, last December 9-10 and 11-13, 2017 respectively. The Training was participated by environmental professionals and GIS enthusiasts who were representing their respective organizations.
GrIDS held a Small Group GIS Training which took place in the second quarter of 2017 at the GrIDS Office, ES Plaza, Los Banos, Laguna. This training is a combination of basic and advanced GIS training where the first batch of the participants coming from the different government and non-government offices were trained at the GrIDS Training Center.
GrIDS, Inc. conducted an exclusive 3-day Advanced Geospatial Technology Training: Introductory Training Course on Photogrammetry last April 24-26, 2018 for Technical Analysts of Meralco Powergen Corporation at Los Baños, Laguna. It includes lecture series on Photogrammetry, open DroneMap interface and functionalities.
Following the two-day training on Land Cover Mapping held last July 12-13, 2018 is another Small Group Training, covering the topic on Basic Geographic Information System (GIS). A walkthrough on the QGIS functionalities, and a hands-on exercises on georeferencing and digitizing was done.
The third Small Group Training held for the year, this one covered the topic on land cover mapping using satellite images. It came out to be a one-on-one training session with our resource persons as this training only had one participant -- Ms. Lynn J. Talkasen, a faculty at Benguet State University.
Another Basic GIS Training was held last Oct. 27-28, 2018 at the GrIDS Office. This was the 6th batch of participants trained in small group for the year, and the 2nd under the basic GIS category. So far, this is the most diverse small-group that GrIDS ever trained as participants were from the different sectors.
As part of the contract with Energy Development Corporation, a photogrammetry training was scheduled at the end phase of the BINHI Plantation Perimeter Survey Project in order to capacitate its technical staff before turning over the project deliverables to them. Eight (8) staff of EDC was trained at GrIDS Training Center, all of them working under the Watershed Management Division.
